Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition, 10 p.m., ABC

Remember when EM first started it was a plastic surgery show? Oh, those were some good times. Of course, now there is the home renovation version, which is a mega-hit and keeps Kleenex sales going, and this new installment. In the debut tonight, “An ambitious 21-year-old woman who weighs nearly 400 pounds embarks on a one-year challenge in hope of losing weight.” I’m in.

Platinum Hit, 10 p.m., Bravo

This is Kara DioGuardi and Jewel’s new music competition show. You will remember Kara from her brief largely inarticulate stint on Idol and Jewel from her terrific job helming Nashville Star. “Platinum Hit follows 12 up-and-coming musicians as they battle through a series of innovative songwriting challenges testing their creativity, patience and drive. From dance track to love ballad, every episode will feature a different theme that will require the contestants to write and perform lyrics from multiple genres.”

National Memorial Day Concert, 9 p.m., PBS (check listings)
