Safety on North Branford Residents' Minds in Proposed Propane Tank Installation
Residents believe the installation of the tanks would be a safety issue.

North Branford residents have expressed concern over a proposal to install two 30,000 gallon propane tanks in the town, the New Haven Register reports.
According to the paper, residents have expressed concerns over safety as the proposed location is near a gas stations and Route 80.
The proposal submitted by J.J. Sullivan Fuel Oil would install the two tanks at a property on Ciro Road. The property is owned by Town Council member Donald Fucci, who has come under fire by the town’s residents for being involved in the deal.

Mayor Anthony Candelora said after meeting with fire safety officials he believes the facility will be completely safe in town, the paper reports.
Fire Chief Bill Seward told the paper the company has agreed to comply with all fire safety codes and National Fire Protection Association Standards. Seward also told the Register that residents had misconceptions about propane tank safety due to unfortunate disasters involving propane tanks that have happened across the country.

J.J. Sullivan also submitted a proposal to install two propane tanks in Guilford, where a moratorium was proposed on the issue till the town did more research on propane storage.
