Smartphone Photos Lead to Arrest of North Branford Woman in Hit-and-Run Accident

The woman fled the scene but not before the other motorist took photos with her smartphone, according to North Haven police.

Photos taken with a smartphone led to the arrest of a North Branford woman following a hit-and-run accident Sunday morning in North Haven.

North Haven police said a motorist was struck from behind while stopped at the intersection of Quinnipiac and Montowese avenues at 9:44 a.m. Sunday.

The motorist was then confronted by the second operator later, identified as Teresa Simmons, 48, of North Branford.

Prior to police arrival, Simmons allegedly began swearing at the other operator and causing a disturbance.

Simmons then fled the scene, but not before the other operator had taken photos with her smartphone, according to police.

Police responded to Simmons’ residence and took her into custody.

Simmons was arrested on charges of evading responsibility, breach of peace, operating under suspension and following too close. She was released after posting a $500 bond.
