A day in the life of a police officer isn’t something many people outside law enforcement get to witness. But thanks to the Clinton Police Department, longtime Vista member Adam Friedman experienced firsthand what it’s like to be an officer.
A 20-year Vista member with an interest in law enforcement, Adam recently spent time shadowing Clinton Police Officer Jason Frey. The two-hour experience began with a tour of the Clinton Police Department, including the jail cells, where Adam bravely agreed to be locked up.
“That was scary,” Adam said with a smile of his brief stint behind bars.

Following the tour, Adam hit the road with Officer Frey for a ride along. Wearing a Clinton Police Citizen’s Academy jacket, Adam sat in the front of the squad car with a pair of binoculars and helped Officer Frey spot speeding drivers. He also got to try out the radar detector. In all, three speeding drivers were pulled over.
At the end of the day, Adam received a Clinton Police Challenge coin as a memento. The experience, he said, is one he will never forget.

“My favorite part was seeing all the different things he (Officer Frey) does,” Adam said.
Adam enjoyed the experience so much, he hopes to be able to go on another ride along with Officer Frey.
