William E. 'Bill' Grady, 86, of Northford: Former CEO of Ansonia Brass and Copper
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Therese Church in Branford on Jan. 28.

The following obituary for Northford resident William E. "Bill" Grady, 86, is from the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home:
William E. "Bill" Grady, 86, of Northford, Connecticut, died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of January 23, 2017.
Born to William C. Grady and Elizabeth Rust Grady in New York City on August 23, 1930, Bill graduated from St. Ann's High School (later known as Archbishop Malloy High School) in New York City and then from the University of Notre Dame in 1953. On October 29, 1955, he married Hilda C. Vincenz, whom he loved with all his heart.

After completing his military service at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, he was later employed at Carpenter Steel in Bridgeport, CT and then owned and operated an employment agency. He retired after serving as CEO of Ansonia Brass and Copper in Ansonia, CT.
Bill is survived by his wife Hilda, and their five children and their spouses – Mary Keefe of Branford, CT; Bill Grady of Northbrook, IL and his wife Marita Janzen; Michael Grady of Charlotte, NC and his wife Marcia; Peggy-Eliot Grady of Falmouth, ME; and Eileen Vermilye of Bethesda, MD, and her husband Andrew Vermilye. Bill was predeceased by his son-in-law, Sean Keefe, husband of Mary. Bill was very proud of his fourteen grandchildren – Padraic, Grady, Shannon, Billy, Christopher, Kylie, Hannah, Choka, Maral, Hulan, Booway, Riker, Greer, and Grady. Bill leaves a sister, Marie McQuade of Deer Park, NY, and her husband James McQuade; he was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Fred.

In his younger years, Bill was a gifted athlete who won medals for his High School in the Wannamaker Games. He also rowed and played pre-professional baseball. Bill was a long-time New York Yankees fan. He taught himself to sail and enjoyed taking his boat, the Carib, out on Long Island Sound. More recently, Bill enjoyed spending time with Hilda in Stowe, VT.
Bill loved the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and seldom missed watching their games on television. Go Irish!
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Therese Church, 105 Leetes Island Road, Branford, CT at 12 noon on Saturday, January 28th, 2017.
