2 Injured After Crash Into DOT Truck On I-91 In North Haven: Officials

Fire crews extricated two people after the crash, and also responded to a tractor-trailer fire 15 minutes later in North Haven.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two people were extricated from a vehicle after a crash Wednesday afternoon on I-91 North in North Haven, according to fire officials.

The North Haven Fire Department responded at 12:44 p.m. to I-91 North between Exits 8-9 for a crash involving extrication, according to officials.

“A motor vehicle rear ended a CT DOT truck resulting in two injuries and the extrication of the occupants,” officials wrote in a post on the North Haven Fire Department’s Facebook page. “E1, E9, R1 responded and while E6 was dispatched, it never responded. E9 remained on scene for nearly an hour to manage the incident.

“Simultaneously at 12:59 p.m., the North Haven Fire Dept responded to 100 McDermott Rd for the report of a truck fire threatening exposures. E1 cleared the incident on I-91 and arrived on scene at 1:03pm to find a fully involved tractor fire that had extended to another tractor. T1, E4 and E7 were dispatched, T1 arrived at 1:10pm, E7 responded at 1:15pm and no response from E4. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s office.”
