Inaugural Benhaven Walk for Autism

NORTH HAVEN, CT: The inaugural Benhaven Walk for Autism on Sunday, September 30th raised over $30,000! The event featured a 2 Mile Walk and a celebration offering music, food, refreshments and more! Race coordinator’s expected 200 participants and were thrilled that over 300 participants were at the North Haven track ready to walk for a great cause!
Proceeds from the event benefit Benhaven, a local non-profit that serves individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities and related disabilities. Benhaven’s mission is to enable those with autism and pervasive developmental disorders to participate in community life, exercise productive control over their own lives, have meaningful relationships and associations, be gainfully employed, and experience happiness and personal satisfaction.
Kathryn du Pree, Executive Director of Benhaven states “We are honored and proud to have such an amazing turnout this year. We are already looking forward to next year’s walk! As state resources become even more stretched to meet the growing demand, the money raised from this walk will help fulfill our mission of assisting families with both immediate and long-term need that cannot be fully met with public funding.”
