The North Haven Fire Department continues to work with the Department of Public Works, Frontier, Comcast and UI. The focus has been on obtaining access to all streets which requires the removal of large trees, telephone poles, vehicles that were struck and wires which must first be deemed safe for removal. At this time the following streets remain closed to all traffic:
- Brewster Rd
- Bowling Green Dr
- Bradley St between Scrub Oak Rd/Bowling Green Dr
- Koczak Ct
- Christine Rd
- King Highway between Legrand Rd/Mt Carmel Ave
- Mt Carmel Ave between Kings Highway/Whitney Ave
- Honeycomb Ln
Numerous other roads remain limited to one lane only due to extensive debris and trees. Additional road closures may occur as utility companies work to restore power. Do not drive over any wires, assume that all wires are live and understand that driving over wires may lead to injury and/or death. Furthermore the same wires that are on the ground may be used to restore utilities, driving over the wires will only further degrade the integrity of the wire and lead to future arching or service issues.

At this point, we are not aware of any issues with water or gas service to the area. No underground utilities have been impacted and all pump stations for water and sewer services are operational.
Cellular service in the area has been unreliable due to the possibility of infrastructure damage to area cell towers in addition to cell towers being without power. At 7 p.m. (on Thursday) evening a request was submitted to the CT Dept. of Homeland Security to bring a “COW” (Cell on Wheels) to the area. This should increase cellular reliability in the area which is important considering some residents only have their cell phones available to call 911.

Those residents without running water please be advised that two locations will be available as of tomorrow morning and through the duration of this event to obtain fresh water. Both Green Acres School and Clintonville School have food grade hoses connected to water faucets outside where residents can fill their own containers to use for pets, laundry, drinking water, etc. Additionally the Regional Water Authority is setting up a trailer for drinking water in front of Green Acres School. All of these sites will remain available around the clock.
