4 Displaced After Fire In North Haven: Officials
Four people and three pets were displaced from their home after a fire in North Haven, according to officials.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — Four people were displaced from their home after a fire Friday afternoon in North Haven, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded around 2:25 p.m. to a 911 call from a resident reporting a possible kitchen fire in their house with flames visible in a home on Tenedine Drive.
“Engine 1, Engine 2, Vol Engine 7 Rescue 1 and Tower 1 were dispatched to the scene,” officials wrote in a post on the North Haven Fire Department’s Facebook page. “Engine 1 arrived first on scene 4 minutes after receipt of the 911 call under the command of Captain Brockett and reported light smoke showing from the rear of the structure. Engine 1 made an attack off tank water and quickly knocked the fire down. Additional responding units performed primary and secondary searches, overhaul and ventilation. Command requested Additional units respond including Car 2, FM1 and the Building official. Volunteer Engine 7 responded with a crew 10 minutes after being dispatched.

“The fire extended into the attic space through a light fixture and crews worked to reduce further spread and prevent damage to roof mounted solar panels. The house sustained enough damage that it could not be occupied after the fire was extinguished.”
The American Red Cross is assisting the four residents and three pets who were displaced by the fire, according to officials.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the North Haven Fire Marshal’s office.
“The North Haven Fire Department reminds everyone to not leave cooking appliances unattended during use, even for short periods of time,” officials wrote.
