4 North Haven Police Officers Earn Promotions

Last night, at the regular meeting of the North Haven Board of Police Commission, four officers were promoted. From right to left, Deputy Chief Andrew Stavrides, Captain Christopher Thorpe, Lieutenant Clifford Hill, and Sergeant Nicholas Costanzo.

D.C. Andrew Stavrides is a 17-year member of the NoHPD. He has served as the commanding officer of the Investigative Services Division, Uniformed Services Division, and the Professional Standards Division, Accreditation, and Training. Former member of the South Central Regional SWAT Team, and a POST certified Police Instructor. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University, an MBA and MPA from the University of New Haven. He has attended several leadership programs including the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and the Police Executive Research Forum.

Capt. Christopher Thorpe is a 22-year member of the NoHPD. He was a DARE Officer for 14-years, and a DARE Mentor for 5-years. As a Sergeant he was assigned as a supervisor in our Uniformed Services Division, and as a Lieutenant Christopher became the Professional Standards Commander and CALEA Accreditation Manager. Christopher is a graduate from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy.

Lt. Clifford Hill is a 13-year member of the NoHPD, and Valedictorian of his academy class earning the Samuel J. Luciano Award. He has served as a patrolman, detective and Sergeant in our Uniformed Services Division and Investigative Services Division. Cliff is a POST Police Instructor in many areas, and an Assistant Team Leader on the South Central SWAT Team. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. He also holds a Master's Degree in Public Safety Leadership and Administration from Arizona State University graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Sgt. Nicholas Costanzo is a 10-year member of the NoHPD and a lifetime resident of North Haven. After attending the University of New Haven he began his career in North Haven. Nicholas is the Secretary of the Police Union and a member of the South Central SWAT Team where he is a trained sniper.
