5 Hospitalized In Chain-Reaction Crash On Route 15: State Police
Two police cruisers were struck in the multi-vehicle crash that shut down a portion of Route 15 in North Haven on Sunday afternoon.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Five people were hospitalized, including two state troopers, were hospitalized following a chain-reaction crash that shut down Route 15 in North Haven for about two and a half hours on Sunday afternoon, according to state police.
The crash occurred at about 2:35 p.m. on Dec. 17, when a vehicle stopped abruptly in the left lane on Route 15 North near Exit 62 in North Haven. Two police cruisers stopped behind the vehicle and activated their emergency lights.
Four vehicles were all traveling northbound in sequence in the left lane and before troopers could do anything further, a Ford Ranger was struck from behind by a Subaru and the operator of the Ranger continued on and pulled over to the right shoulder, police wrote in the accident report.

The Subaru was then struck by a Honda Civic, which pushed it into a police cruiser and then spun out from the impact and then struck the initial disabled vehicle, according to police.
A Honda Pilot then struck the Civic and went airborne, landed and then went off to the right and into the guardrail on the right shoulder, according to police.

Five people were hospitalized for complaints of minor injuries and Route 15 was closed for about two and a half hours, police said.
