6 Displaced, Several Pets Killed In 2-Alarm House Fire In North Haven: Officials
Three firefighters were injured during the fire, which happened around 3 a.m. on Friday, according to officials.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — Six people were displaced from their home and several pets were killed in a two-alarm fire early Friday morning in North Haven, according to fire officials.
Crews responded to a house fire on Palmer Road around 3 a.m. Multiple 911 callers reported a house fire and the first unit arrived at the scene within 2 ½ minutes from dispatch, according to officials.
“Mutual aid consisting of an Engine and Ladder responded from East Haven FD,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “Due to heavy fire conditions, a second alarm was called mobilizing all available North Haven FD apparatus and personnel to the scene. New Haven FD and Wallingford FD provided town coverage for fire incidents.”

The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist with the relocation of six occupants, according to officials.
“Unfortunately, a dog and several cats did not survive,” officials wrote.

The last engine cleared the scene shortly after 9 a.m., according to officials.
Officials said there were “three minor injuries sustained by firefighters” and the incident is being investigated by the fire marshal's office.
“While units were on scene of this fire, several other incidents occurred including a head-on motor vehicle accident requiring extrication on the Merritt Parkway which included a total of four occupants, some with serious injuries,” officials wrote.
