NORTH HAVEN, CT — A 55-year-old Meriden man was arrested Monday after police said he planned to meet a juvenile to “engage in sexual conduct” and participate in the use of marijuana in North Haven.
Police said North Haven detectives intercepted the suspect, identified as Scottie Anthony, at the designated location and took him into custody.
Anthony was arrested and charged with enticing a minor, risk of injury to a child, criminal attempt to commit second-degree sexual assault, sale, delivery, or giving of cannabis to a person under 21 by a person aged 23 or older, and illegal possession of a controlled substance.
“The North Haven Police Department once again urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant regarding their children’s online activity,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Parents are encouraged to maintain open and ongoing conversations with their children about internet safety, monitor online interactions and educate them about the dangers of communicating with unknown individuals.
“If you haven't noticed, we will be relentless in pursuing and arresting those who prey on our youth. And for those who don't understand, let us make it CLEAR: If you target a child, we will target you, arrest you, and do everything we can to help successfully prosecute you.”
