Bridge Rehabilitation Project To Lead To Lane Restrictions In North Haven: DOT

The project is expected to be completed later this year, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation is advising motorists of a bridge rehabilitation project that will lead to lane restrictions on Route 40 over the next several months.

The state DOT announced Wednesday that the bridges carrying Route 40 over Amtrak Railroad will be rehabilitated. The project is expected to be completed on or around Oct. 28, according to officials.

“The purpose of this project is to extend the service life of Bridge Nos. 03410 and 03411 by addressing areas of advanced deterioration in the deck and superstructure,” officials wrote in a news release.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect lane restrictions on Route 40 between I-91 and the Route 15 overpass, the I-91 ramps to and from Route 40, as well as the Route 40 Exit 1 Ramps. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

The regular work schedule for this project is (daytime) 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and (nighttime) 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Saturday.

Segments of the following routes will be impacted by this project:

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to these schedules may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limits and to utilize caution through this and all other construction work zones.
