NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New York man has been arrested in connection with the illegal dumping of debris, including a boat, in North Haven, according to police.
Police recently received multiple reports of illegal dumping along Valley Service Road.
“Discarding trash, furniture, construction debris, and other waste on public or private property is not only disrespectful to our community, but also against the law,” police wrote in a news release. “Illegal dumping is not just an eyesore — it is a crime that hurts our community, damages the environment, and shows a complete disregard for the residents who take pride in this town. North Haven will not tolerate this behavior.”
Darwin Romero, 45, of Middle Village, New York, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with illegal dumping bulk/hazard waste (boat).
“This arrest should serve as a reminder: if you illegally dump trash or debris in our town, we will investigate, identify you, and hold you accountable,” police wrote. “Our officers will continue increased patrols and follow up on complaints we receive. We are committed to tracking down offenders and pursuing criminal charges.
“We thank the community members who continue to report suspicious activity and assist our investigations. Working together, we can keep North Haven clean & safe.”
