GROTON, CT — A North Haven man has been arrested in connection with an assault and burglary at a business in Groton in April, according to Groton police.
Police responded around 2:30 p.m. on April 4 to a 911 call from a store employee reporting that two men had entered a business on Route 12 in Groton and tried to rob him, according to officials.
Another employee and other customers tried to intervene, police said.
The 911 caller reported that one of the suspects was possibly armed with a large knife. The two suspects fled before police arrived.
The victim had suffered multiple stab wounds and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from him, according to police.
Officers provided medical aid to the victim until Groton Ambulance personnel arrived and took him to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Following an investigation, police identified Osvaldo Beard-Beltran, 30, of North Haven, as a suspect.
Beard-Beltran was arrested July 9 while in custody at New London Superior Court on unrelated charges, according to police.
Beard-Beltran was charged with accessory to first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, accessory to first-degree assault, accessory to second-degree assault, and fifth-degree larceny.
He was being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
The incident remains under investigation.
