Man Arrested On Child Sexual Abuse Material Charge: North Haven Police

A man who was arrested earlier this year faces a new charge involving possession of child sexual abuse material, according to police.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Meriden man who was arrested earlier this year on accusations that he planned to meet a juvenile to "engage in sexual conduct" in North Haven faces a new charge involving possession of child sex abuse material, according to police.

Scottie Anthony, 55, was arrested on April 13 after police said he planned to meet the juvenile at a designated location to "engage in sexual conduct" and participate in the use of marijuana. Police intercepted him at the location and took him into custody.

Anthony was arrested and charged with enticing a minor, risk of injury to a child, criminal attempt to commit second-degree sexual assault, sale, delivery, or giving of cannabis to a person under 21 by a person aged 23 or older, and illegal possession of a controlled substance. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to state judicial records. A pre-trial date has been set for Aug. 24.

Following that arrest, North Haven police said detectives obtained search warrants for cellular devices associated with the investigation.

"Upon review and forensic examination of the data obtained through the execution of the search warrants, Detectives identified evidence indicating that Anthony was in possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)," police wrote in a news release.

Anthony was arrested Monday on a warrant and charged with third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material. He was released after posting a $200,000 bond.
