Ken Kosior, of Durham, associate dean for clinical education and partnerships and associate professor of physical therapy in Quinnipiac University's School of Health Sciences, received a Trailblazer Award at the Exxat Cohere Conference in Baltimore on Sept. 24.

Kosior was recognized for his pioneering spirit and contributions to advancing clinical and experiential learning through Exxat Prism, a technology platform that helps health professions programs manage clinical placements, track student progress and connect classroom learning with hands-on experiences.

"Receiving this inaugural award at Exxat Cohere Conference validates and acknowledges the cutting edge work our School of Health Science programs continue to do in leveraging technology to provide exceptional experiential learning and workforce development," Kosior said. "The future of health profession education resides in our ability to effectively utilize data, AI and software to ensure academic excellence as we transition students from classroom to clinic."

The award recognizes Kosior's leadership in using technology to strengthen the connection between classroom learning and real-world clinical experiences. His work supports students, faculty and clinical partners while helping create more efficient and meaningful learning experiences.

Clinical education is a critical component of preparing students for successful careers, particularly in the health professions, where hands-on experience is essential. By leveraging Exxat Prism to improve how clinical experiences are organized, managed and connected to student learning, Kosior is helping demonstrate how technology can enhance education while supporting the people and partnerships that make experiential learning possible.

As associate dean for clinical education and partnerships, Kosior works to strengthen the connections between Quinnipiac's health sciences programs and the clinical partners who provide students with valuable opportunities to apply their knowledge and develop professional skills.

"Ken has pioneered the use of technologic tools and data networks to streamline clinical placements in the School of Health Sciences," said Trent Honda, dean of Quinnipiac's School of Health Sciences. "Much of this has been in collaboration with Exxat, and I'm so grateful to see him recognized for this important work."
