Quinnipiac University will host "Fable and Fantasy" by The Myriad Project at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, in The SITE Auditorium on the Mount Carmel Campus, 275 Mount Carmel Ave., Hamden.
The event is part of Quinnipiac's Frank J. Natale Concert Series. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors and those with Quinnipiac identification and can be purchased by clicking here.
The Myriad Project is a genre-defying electro-acoustic chamber ensemble based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Its unique sound combines emotional melodies with rhythmic grooves, transporting listeners into immersive sound worlds. The group's music evokes movie soundtracks and fantasy game scores, with whimsy and storytelling at the center of its concert experiences.
"Fable and Fantasy" is a program that explores themes of storytelling, discovery and adventure. Classical music fans will enjoy the ensemble's transcriptions of classical reed trios, while contemporary music enthusiasts will hear several newly commissioned works that showcase virtuosic playing and experiment with soundscapes and extended techniques. The Myriad Project will also venture into the world of video game music with original arrangements of familiar Nintendo soundtracks.
The Frank J. Natale Concert Series brings talented performers from a variety of musical backgrounds, including jazz, classical and contemporary music, to the Mount Carmel Campus each year.
"The Myriad Project will perform an imaginative, eclectic program on electric violin and loop pedal, with bassoon and oboe, creating a unique soundscape for storytelling through music," said Lauren Reed, assistant teaching professor of music and director of the concert series. "They are an extraordinary group of artists blending genres and expanding the creative possibilities of their instruments."
