NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two North Haven schools rank among the best public elementary schools in Connecticut, according to new rankings released this week by U.S. News & World Report.
Green Acres Elementary School ranked 18th statewide in the publication's 2027 Best Elementary Schools rankings. Clintonville Elementary School was listed at No. 41 in the rankings.
Riverside School in Greenwich claimed the No. 1 spot in Connecticut, followed by Veterans Park Elementary School in Ridgefield and Bugbee School in West Hartford.
The rankings evaluated approximately 46,000 public elementary schools nationwide using reading and mathematics performance data from state education agencies and the U.S. Department of Education.
For 2027, U.S. News expanded its methodology to incorporate additional state-level data, measuring student performance across all proficiency levels while accounting for student background and achievement on state assessments.
Student-teacher ratios are used to break ties in overall scores.
Schools serving prekindergarten through fifth or sixth grade were included, along with schools serving broader grade ranges. For those schools, only test results through fifth grade were considered.
