NORTH HAVEN, CT — More than 2,000 speeding violations have been recorded in two school zones in North Haven in one week since the town's need speed cameras went live, according to police.
The new speed cameras became active on Oct. 19 in the school zones that include North Haven Middle School on Bailey Road and Ridge Road Elementary School on Ridge Road and Hartford Turnpike.
"Right now we're still in the 30-day warning period, so drivers are getting warnings, not fines," police wrote in a post on Facebook. "That changes on November 18, when fines begin.
"You don't need a ticket. Our kids don't need speeding in their school zones. Slow down."
