
Girl Scouts of Troops 60876, 60620, 38318 and 38369 of North Haven and Milford served as Color Guard for the opening ceremonies at the recent Connecticut Elks Association (CEA) Convention held at the Holiday Inn in Stamford, CT.
Elks Girl Scout Coordinator and Hamden Lodge President, Karen Forsyth organized the participation of these local Scouts. Also at the convention, the Connecticut Elks Association Robert T. Curran Girl Scout Award Scholarship was presented in honor and memory of Hamden Lodge member “Bob” Curran for his commitment to Scouting.
Hamden Lodge, currently celebrating 50 years of service to the Hamden and North Haven communities, takes great pride in their commitment to youth and Scouting.

The convention honored accomplishments for the past year, April 2010 through March 2011, and prepared for the 2011-12 year.
The convention elected Stephen Ferraro of Windsor Lodge as CT Elks Association President and elected Peter Freiler of Hamden Lodge as Central District Vice President for the 2011-12 year.

Hamden Lodge was awarded the Best Overall Lodge Activities and Community Welfare Program in recognition of a variety of veterans, community and youth programs including those sponsored by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Grand Lodge.
The Lodge also received Best Overall Youth Program award.
Hamden Lodge member Carl Gorman received The CT Elks State Chairman of the Year Award commending him on coordinating the Central District’s efforts at the annual CT Elks sponsored Special Olympics event.
