Rev. Scott Morrow Thanks Rotary for Support of Holiday Food Drive

A well known pastor of the Congregational Church in North Haven, Rev. Scott Morrow, recently thanked the local Rotary club for annually supporting the Holiday Food Drive.

The community’s Food Bank which was founded by the Fire Department, has been in existence for 40 years.  In the beginning, the food was stored in the fire house pantry, but as the drive grew, it was moved to the basement of the Congregational Church.

The food is distributed to any resident of North Haven in need, as well as to any member of a North Haven church congregation, regardless of residency.

Morrow stated that the current drive is for the holiday season, but donations are needed throughout the year.

Monetary donations are used to buy food such as fresh vegetables and frozen turkeys.

After need is determined by clergy and Community Services, baskets for about 75 families are packed and delivered the weekend prior to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

As in the past, Liberty Bank will match a percentage of the money that the Rotary Club collects which allows greater assistance to those in need.
