August Children's Programs At The North Haven Library

The North Haven Library will present several programs for children throughout the month of August.

DONUT TIME - Wednesday, August 1 @ 3:30 p.m.
Ages 8-14 -
Do you love donuts? Have your donuts and eat them too! Please bring old, clean socks to repurpose into donuts while enjoying a delicious donut snack. Registration is required.

FAMILY BOARD GAME NIGHT - Thursday, August 2 @ 6:00 p.m. All Ages - Game On! Tear yourselves away from TV and try some traditional board or card games! Dare to get tangled up in Twister or dabble in Scrabble! Games and lights snacks will be provided. One participating family will win a prize from our free raffle drawing! No registration required.

TODDLER TIME - Friday, August 3 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 1½-2½ - This storytime is for children and their caregiver/ parent. Sing songs, read books and make a craft based on our story. Registration is required.

POKÉMON CARD SWAP - Friday, August 3 @ 3:00p.m. Ages 4-14 with adult Do you love Pokémon? You may not be able to trade at school or at our regular Pokémon Club, but today you can! * Bring your Pokémon cards for trading. No registration is required.

PICNIC AND PERFORMANCE FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT: SCIENCE TELLERS - Monday, August 6 @ 7:00 p.m. All Ages - Bring a picnic to the library lawn and enjoy! Throughout this absolutely wild adventure story, volunteers from the audience will help us explore the fascinating science behind chemical reactions, acids and bases, combustion, air pressure, inertia and more. Don’t miss this classic action-packed western with ‘notes’ of science! In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the library’s community room. No registration is required.

TUTU TUESDAY - Tuesday, August 7 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 6mo-3½yr - Time for too-too much fun on Tuesday at the Library. Dress your baby or toddler in a tutu or bow tie to add to the fun. Enjoy music, dancing, story and playtime.
Registration is required.

SPECTACULAR SCIENCE - Tuesday, August 7 @ 3:30 p.m. Ages 6-10 - Are you curious? This class offers the opportunity to explore simple science themes through the eyes of a scientist. This class will feature a child-friendly experiment through which the children will make simple predictions and test their ideas. Registration is required.

HODGE-PODGE CRAFT - Wednesday, August 8 @ 2:30 p.m. Ages 2-14 - Maybe you missed some of our great crafts during the year. Now you can try your hand at one or more of these crafts. Supplies are limited so come early and make as many as you can carry home! No registration required.

KRAFTY KIDS Thursday, August 9 @ 1:30 p.m. Ages 3-6
Join us for stories from awesome authors, songs and a craft to go! Registration is required.

MOANA, MOVIE, MEET & GREET - Thursday, August 9 @ 3:00 p.m.
Ages 3 & up - Join us for a showing of Disney's "Moana". Dress your best or wear your princess costume for a photo opportunity and meet-and-greet with Moana before the show! Registration is required.

LEGO™ CLUB - Thursday, August 9 @ 6:30 p.m. Ages 4-12 - Drop by and create with LEGO™! We provide the LEGOs™ and you provide the creativity! No registration required.

BABY RHYME TIME- Friday, August 10 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 0-18 mos Take a moment to nurture the bond between caregiver and child and to increase awareness of the child’s development. Our primary focus is the healthy development of infants ages 0-18 months old with an emphasis on language enrichment and pre-literacy skills. No registration is required.

SUMMER READING 2018: LIFE – SIZED LIBRARY ENDS – Friday, August 10th The Prize Box closes today at 4:00p.m. Coins must be used today before The Prize Box closes.

DISNEY KARAOKE: FAMILY STYLE - Wednesday, August 15 @ 3:30 p.m.
All Ages
Does your child know every word to Frozen? Moana? Descendants? You probably know them by now too. Bring the whole family for an afternoon of Disney Karaoke! We’ll have a host of songs from Disney classics to sing together as a family or as a solo… we’ll even sing a few as a group! Registration is required.

DANCE PARTY - Thursday, August 16 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 12mos – 5yr with adult Calling all toddlers and preschoolers! Join us for this loosely structured dance party to burn off some extra energy, sing, dance and play with instruments. Registration is required.

STUFFED ANIMAL STORYTIME & SLEEPOVER - Thursday, August 16 @ 6:00 p.m. - Ages 10 & under
Bring one of your favorite stuffed animals to the library with you to share a special storytime, songs and a craft together! Then, tuck in your stuffed animal so it can have a sleepover with all of its new friends. Come pick them up the next morning (after 11:00 a.m.) and see what shenanigans they got into overnight! Registration is required.

PRESCHOOL POWER STORYTIME - Friday, August 17 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 3-6 - Power up with stories, songs, flannel boards and more that encourage the development of early literacy skills in young children. Registration is required.

CANVAS CLUB FOR TWEENS AND TEENS - Monday, August 20 @ 6:30 p.m.
Ages 10-14
No painting experience is necessary to join our Canvas Club! See what you can accomplish with a blank canvas, some paint, and your imagination! Paint and supplies will be provided. Acrylic paint will stain, so please dress in old clothes. Registration is required.

MUSIC TOGETHER - Tuesday, August 21 Ages: Birth - Age 5 with parent or caregiver
Session I - 10:15 -11:00 or Session II - 11:00 - 11:45
Making music as a family is so much fun! Come and experience a Music Together class. This innovative program engages the entire family- play, observe, discover and create musical memories! Sign up for Session I OR II. Registration is required.

AWESOME ARTISTS - Tuesday, August 21 @ 3:30 p.m.
Ages 8-12 -
Let’s learn about the artist Van Gogh. In this program, you will learn about landscapes and flowers, some art techniques and create a Van Gogh inspired pastel drawing. All materials will be provided! Registration is required.

OFF TO KINDERGARTEN - Wednesday, August 22 @ 10:30 a.m.
For children attending kindergarten in September -
This program is designed to get your child ready for kindergarten with a story, craft, songs and rhymes. Registration is required.

WORLD MYTHOLOGY ADVENTURES - Wednesday, August 22 @ 3:30 p.m. Ages 9-14 - Are you ready for an adventure? Hear a mythological tale and make a related craft! Please inform us of any allergies at time of registration.
Registration is required.

END OF SUMMER SWAP & SELL - Thursday, August 23 @ 5:00 p.m. - Register for a table and bring in your child's outgrown clothing, toys or equipment to swap or sell. Sale will be in the Community Room from 5:00 - 7:30 Thursday August 23rd. This is a service to help you clean out closets and stretch your budget. PARACHUTE PLAYTIME - Friday, August 24 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 2-6
Get some energy out by shakin’ our parachute. Enjoy classic songs like Wheels on the Bus and Old MacDonald and dance to new favorites! This loosely structured, gross-motor activity class is for children aged 2-6 with an adult. Registration is required.
