Grant recipients provide housing services to meet immediate needs and build stronger financial lives

STAMFORD, CT – The Bank of America Charitable Foundation is awarding more than $200,000 in grants to Connecticut nonprofits that provide vital community development and housing services, including neighborhood revitalization and economic development projects, home ownership counseling and affordable housing development. These grants are part of the bank’s broader philanthropic investment in helping individuals and families in Connecticut lead stronger financial lives.

The recognized nonprofits play a critical role in connecting low-income individuals and families to housing options at their point in need.

“Empowering organizations that provide affordable housing solutions and stabilize neighborhoods is a key component to building a stronger financial future for our community,” said Bill Tommins, Southern Connecticut market president, Bank of America. “We’re fortunate enough to work with several organizations that offer valuable services to our Southern Connecticut residents.”

Southern Connecticut area organizations receiving grants include:
• Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust
• Greater New Haven Community Loan Fund
• Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven
• Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County
• Homefront
• Housing Development Fund
• Fairfield County Collaborative Fund for Affordable Housing (LISC)
• Mutual Housing Association of South Central Connecticut
• Near & Far Aid Association
• Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven
• Neighborhood Housing Services of Waterbury
• New Haven International Festival of Arts & Ideas
• New Neighborhoods

These grants build on years of philanthropic and employee volunteer support in Connecticut as part of a larger effort to help individuals and families build better money habits and find pathways out of poverty.
