Bearingstar Announces Platinum Sponsorship of 2015 Law Enforcement Torch Run
Funds Support Special Olympics Connecticut

The Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund today announced it will be a Platinum Sponsor of the 2015 Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics Connecticut. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics’ single largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle, with events held in 46 countries and more than $461 million raised since its inception in 1981. This is the third consecutive year that Bearingstar has sponsored the LETR.
Connecticut held its first Law Enforcement Torch Run in 1986, with a few legs converging onto the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs. Since its inception, the LETR has grown into the largest grassroots fundraising event for Special Olympics Connecticut. This year’s run will cover over 500 miles and pass through more than 100 cities and towns. Over 1,500 law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes are expected to participate. The run will be held June 3-5, starting in Old Lyme and concluding in New Haven.
Special Olympics Connecticut athletes and representatives attended Bearingstar’s annual meeting as special guest speakers in February. On behalf of the Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund, Jennifer Lajoie presented a check for $25,000 to the representatives.
“We are thrilled to once again sponsor the Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Special Olympics Connecticut,” said Tom Pozzo, president of Bearingstar Insurance. “All of us at Bearingstar Insurance are committed to giving back to our communities, and we are proud to strengthen our ties with such an inspirational organization. We look forward to cheering on the athletes and their families at this year’s event.”
