Body Found After North Haven Explosion Identified

Authorities have identified the remains found at the site of an explosion earlier this month in North Haven.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The Chief Medical Examiner has positively identified the remains found after the explosion in North Haven earlier this month as John Sayre, 60, of Quinnipiac Avenue, state police announced on Monday.

The explosion occurred May 2 in the 300 block of Quinnipiac Avenue in North Haven during a standoff with a barricaded man. Nine officers from the South Central Regional SWAT Team were hospitalized with injuries sustained in the explosion. All have since been released from the hospital. The injured officers include five from East Haven, three from North Haven and one Branford police officer.
