North Haven resident Ryan O’Connell, MD, named VP of Performance and Risk Management at Bridgeport Hospital

North Haven resident, Ryan O'Connell, MD, has been named Vice President, Performance and Risk Management at Bridgeport Hospital. Dr. O'Connell will succeed Michael Ivy, MD, of Guilford.

Ryan O’Connell, MD, has been named Vice President, Performance and Risk Management at Bridgeport Hospital, effective Oct. 1. Dr. O’Connell will succeed Michael Ivy, MD, of Guilford, who will assume his new hospital role as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer on the same day.

Dr. O’Connell has served as Medical Director for Care Coordination since 2011.

“Ryan has had a remarkable impact on the quality of care we deliver here every day,” President and CEO William M. Jennings said in an Aug. 29 memo announcing Dr. O’Connell’s promotion.

Dr. O’Connell has worked at Bridgeport Hospital as a hospitalist and as physician liaison between the medical staff and Information Services Department, eventually becoming Medical Director of Information Services.

Dr. O’Connell earned his medical degree from New York University. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital. After completing a Medical Informatics fellowship at Yale, he joined an internal medicine practice in Branford and then continued his career at Bridgeport Hospital.

Dr. O'Connell and his wife Michele live with their two children in North Haven.
