Sam Parrish, M.D., appointed associate dean for student affairs at Quinnipiac University’s Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine in North Haven

Sam Parrish, M.D., has been appointed associate dean for student affairs at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.

Sam Parrish, M.D., has been appointed associate dean for student affairs at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.

In his new position, Parrish will be responsible for coordinating the School of Medicine’s student services, including counseling, advising, student programming and academic assistance. In addition, Parrish, who also is an associate professor, will teach in the School of Medicine. Before coming to Quinnipiac, Parrish was the senior associate dean of student affairs at the Drexel University College of Medicine.

“Sam brings many years of experience in student affairs to the School of Medicine,” said Dr. Bruce Koeppen, founding dean of the School of Medicine. “He will be a strong advocate for our students and ensure they have the institutional support they need to succeed.”

Parrish, a pediatrician, earned his medical degree at the University of South Carolina. He also holds a chemistry degree from the College of Charleston. He also is an active member in the Association of Medical Colleges and the Society of Adolescent Medicine.

“I am thrilled to be involved in a school of medicine that is starting from the ground up,” Parrish said. “It’s an amazing and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, which will train primary care physicians, is scheduled to open on Quinnipiac’s North Haven Campus in the Fall of 2013. The School of Medicine has already announced a principal clinical partnership with St. Vincent’s Medical Center of Bridgeport and affiliations with MidState Medical Center of Meriden and Middlesex Hospital of Middletown.
