Bucknall Places 2nd in the 600 Meter Run at the SCC Championship Meet
NHHS boys finish in 10th place.

As far as North Haven indoor boys track and field Coach Marc Celmer is concerned, Kevin Bucknall’s second place 1 minute, 25.75 second runner-up effort in the 600 meter run was the highlight of the day at Friday’s Southern Connecticut Conference Championship Meet held at the New Haven Athletic Center.
Matt Macarelli also had a great day as he posted a third place 44-feet 5-inch throw in the shot put. Steve Albert added a sixth place 37.55 in the 300.
Albert and Bucknall also teamed with Jonathan Gonzalez and Colby Jennings for a fourth place 3:38.21 in the 4x400 relay. The Indians’ 4x800 relay (Gonzalez, Steve LaLuna, Dave Goodrich, and Dave Salvo) added a sixth place 9:05.40.

According to North Haven coach Marc Celmer, “I thought our boys did well. I’m happy with their performances. Unfortunately, one of the guys on our relay teams had a family problem and could not compete. As a result, I had to use one of our pole vaulters as his alternate. I’m sure we would have had better performances with our regular runner.”
Amity won the SCC title with 67 points. NHHS placed 10th with 20 points. The Indians now look ahead to Friday’s CIAC Class L Championship Meet at the New Haven Athletic Center.
