Businesses Evacuated Due To Gas Main Rupture In North Haven: Officials
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.

UPDATE: Washington Avenue has reopened, with only one lane in each direction, according to North Haven police.
(Original post) NORTH HAVEN, CT — Several businesses have been evacuated and rail traffic has been stopped due to a "high-pressure gas main rupture" in the 200 block of Washington Avenue in North Haven, according to fire officials.
Nearby businesses, including the Best Western hotel, have been evacuated, officials said.

“At this point I-91 remains open but monitoring of the environment and wind conditions are ongoing,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “Southern CT Gas company is on scene working to turn off the gas line. No injuries have been reported at this time. Expect traffic delays for the next several hours.”
Police said a construction crew struck the main gas line on the property.

Washington Avenue travel lanes are currently shut down in the area of Wadsworth Avenue and the I-91 on/off ramps.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area, if possible.
