Free Caregivers Workshop Series
The Agency on Aging of South-Central CT is sponsoring a self-care education program for family caregivers, designed to provide you with tools and strategies to better handle the unique challenges you face. The free workshop series consists of six sessions held on Wednesdays, 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m., on 6/3/26, 6/10/26, 6/17/26, 6/24/26, 7/1/26, and 7/8/26. The workshop series will be in person at our office at 117 Washington Ave., Suite 17, North Haven. A light lunch will be provided. Cassandra Brunson and Patricia Soos will present the six sessions.

Kids just wanna have fun… and their parents do too! We encourage parents in our community to come together every Monday morning in the Children’s Department to play. While you’re here, enjoy getting to know other parents/caregivers and their little ones, and check out all that the library has to offer! There will be a quick story time about half way through the hour but the rest of the time is yours to enjoy and make new connections.

Kids just wanna have fun, but sometimes a big library can be overstimulating. We encourage parents in our community who have children on the autism spectrum or with sensory needs to come together every Monday in the Children’s Story Room for sensory play. While you’re here, enjoy getting to know other parents/caregivers and their little ones while playing and reading calmly. There will be a quick touch and feel story time about half way through the hour but the rest of the time is yours to enjoy and make new connections.This program is funded by the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism through an Autism Community Impact Grant.

Of all the legendary figures who have come through Connecticut, few have had the staying power or notoriety that The Leatherman has achieved. For six years during the late 1800s, this so-called "hobo" hiked the same, 364-mile, circuitous route every 34 days like clockwork. Residents could predict when he would return to their town. Wearing a self-made suit of leather, from head to toe, he conversed with no one and slept in caves. And, we still don't know who he was. But, people loved him.

The North Haven Fire Department invites residents to attend a free public safety education class focused on Hands-Only CPR and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). This engaging and informative course teaches participants how to recognize cardiac arrest, call 911, and provide effective chest compressions until help arrives. Attendees will also learn how to confidently locate and operate an AED. Led by trained fire department personnel, the class emphasizes quick action, personal safety, and lifesaving skills that empower community members to make a critical difference in an emergency.
 *Please note this is not a certification course!

This popular event will feature a Silent Auction offering more than 75 gift certificates and products from a wide variety of local businesses, a plant sale showcasing an assortment of annuals in hanging baskets, vegetables, herbs and flowers, beautiful handcrafted items created by members of our church Craft Group, handmade quilts, a Tag Sale Room, a Cookie Walk, Farmer’s Market items and homemade bake goods. All items should be in a box that can easily be picked up. Paper items only. No trash or non-paper items. No CDs, X-Rays, etc. On-site shredding truck provided by Affordable Solutions, LLC.

Common Questions: Will the documents be shredded at the drop-off location or are they transported to another facility? All documents will be shredded on-site. Workers will remove documents from vehicles and put them in the truck for shredding. 
Is there a certain way to prepare my documents? Place all paper documents into a box or paper bag for easy removal. Please look through the box/bag, before you bring it for shredding. Make sure the items in the box/bag are what you want shredded.
No Trash.
What happens to the shredded paper? The shredded documents are transported to a recycling facility and baled before being recycled into new paper.
