For the month of June, we will be reading and discussing When She Returned by Lucinda Berry. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Kate Bennett vanished from a parking lot eleven years ago, leaving behind her husband and young daughter. When she shows up at a Montana gas station, clutching an infant and screaming for help, investigators believe she may have been abducted by a cult.
Kate’s return flips her family’s world upside down―her husband is remarried, and her daughter barely remembers her. Kate herself doesn’t look or act like she did before.
While the family tries to help Kate reintegrate into society, they discover truths they’ve been hiding from each other about their own relationships. But they aren’t the only ones with secrets. As the family unravels what happened to Kate, a series of shocking revelations shows that Kate’s return is more sinister than any of them could have imagined.

East Haven's 24th annual Fireworks and Beach Bash is set for Saturday, June 27.
This year’s event promises a day filled with live music, great food, and festive fun for the entire family, according to East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora.
"This year’s Fireworks and Beach Bash carries special meaning as we begin looking ahead to America’s 250th anniversary," Carfora said. "It is a time for our community to come together at the beach, celebrate our country, enjoy great music and food, and show the patriotic spirit that makes East Haven special. I encourage everyone to join us for another memorable night on the shoreline."
A wide range of food trucks and local vendors will be stationed throughout the day, offering a variety of eats to suit all tastes.
Live entertainment lineup:
From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Gunn St. Revival. From 7 p.m. until and after fireworks, The Rum Runners perform. Carfora said that "as it worked out so well last year," live music will continue after the fireworks, with The Rum Runners returning to the stage for a second set following the grand finale at approximately 9:45 p.m.
Also, 99.1 PLR’s Eddie Sab will be on site with giveaways and music from the PLR tent.
Please note that access to the beach area will be limited starting at 9 a.m., due to road closures. The East Haven Police Department will be assisting with traffic control to help ensure a safe and smooth day for all attendees.
In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be held Monday, June 29, with limited entertainment and the fireworks show.
While the Town proudly hosts the fireworks, this event is made possible through the generous support of local residents and businesses. Donations can be mailed to: East Haven Fireworks, 250 Main Street, East Haven, CT 06512.
