Carnival Of Fun Kicks Off North Haven Library’s Summer Reading Club

There will be games, crafts, food trucks, and fun for the whole family, according to organizers.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The North Haven Memorial Library’s pirate-themed Summer Reading 2023 kicks off with the library’s Carnival of Fun on Saturday, June 17.

The carnival will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the front lawn of North Haven Memorial Library at 17 Elm St. in North Haven.

“All hands will be on deck, including Library staff, high school volunteers, the Friends of the North Haven Memorial Library and the Daytime Garden Club of North Haven,” organizers wrote in a news release. “Enjoy games, balloon animals, crafts and more! Leo the Lion, the library mascot, will also be in attendance to entertain me hearties!”

Food trucks will be available to quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger (there is a charge for all food truck items). Festivities begin promptly at 11 a.m. - rain or shine. If the weather is inclement, the carnival will be held inside the library.

At the carnival, individuals of all ages, can sign up for the Library’s Summer Reading programs! Adults who register will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a pirate- themed gift basket that will be raffled off the day of the carnival (you do not need to be present to win). Adults will be given a treasure map that will guide them in completing various activities to earn tickets to be entered into weekly drawings.

Teens entering grades 6-12 are invited to participate in the 2023 Teen Summer Reading Challenge! Complete fun activities on a digital, pirate-themed, BINGO card to win books, treasures, and tickets that you can put toward our grand prize drawings. Register today through the Beanstack Tracker App or sign up online at northhavenlibrary.beanstack.org.

Children who will be entering kindergarten – 12-year-olds can register now using the Beanstack Tracker App, with the challenge beginning on June 20th! All you have to do is read for 20 minutes a day to earn coins that you can redeem for prizes at the end of the challenge. PLUS visit the library about once a week to play our giant game board to win mini prizes! We also have an extra special Rubber Ducky Club for all our littlest friends who are not in school yet (ages 0 - 4). Fun and treasure await ye, mateys!
