Child, 6, Dies After Christmas Morning Crash in North Haven: UPDATE
The rollover crash occurred on I-91 North on Christmas morning, and the child was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A serious crash on I-91 in North Haven on Christmas morning has turned fatal after a 6-year-old died from his injuries, according to Connecticut State Police.
Police provided the tragic update on Thursday morning that Noah McCoy, of Meriden, died after being hospitalized at Yale Children’s Hospital after the rollover crash.
The accident occurred at about 8:35 a.m. on Christmas morning when a Toyota Tundra was going south on I-91 and slid into the center median and rolled over numerous times before crossing into the northbound lanes of the highway, police said at the time.

McCoy, 6, was ejected from the truck during the crash and taken to Yale Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. McCoy was not secured in a child seat or using a seat belt, according to police.
The three other occupants, the driver of the truck — Lexsis Ariel Walters, 23, of Meriden — and two other children, ages 13 and 11, suffered minor injuries.

The North Haven Fire Department said preliminary investigation shows the pickup truck involved in the accident slid on black ice and flipped.
The crash remains under investigation, according to state police.
The Meriden Record-Journal reports that McCoy was a ward of the state Department of Children and Families and was living in a foster home.
The state Child Advocate’s Office and the DCF are investigating the circumstances of the crash, along with the death of a 14-year-old Southington boy who was also living in a foster home, according to the Record-Journal.
Michael Shore was struck and killed by vehicles on Route 8 in Naugatuck on Dec. 22.
