College Student to Receive $2M in Settlement of North Haven Crash: Report

The then 19-year-old woman suffered serious injuries, including a fractured skull, after being struck by a car while crossing the street.

NORTH HAVEN, CT —A woman who suffered serious injuries, including a fractured skull with brain bleeding, after being struck by a car while crossing the street in North Haven three years ago has settled her lawsuit against the vehicle’s driver for $2 million, according to the Connecticut Law Tribune.

The CT Law Tribune reports Victoria Schnaufer, who was a 19-year-old college student at the time and was going door-to-door as a volunteer for an environmental advocacy group, was struck by a vehicle driven by Helen Knudsen while crossing Ridge Road.

Schnaufer, who also suffered fractured ribs and a broken right leg in the crash, was placed in a medically induced coma while being treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital and still suffers some lingering effects from the accident, according to the CT Law Tribune.
