Coronavirus North Haven: Police Implement Changes

Police are encouraging residents to avoid coming to headquarters as much as possible to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven police are encouraging residents to call the department as much as possible rather than going to headquarters to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

“Due to the extraordinary events we are experiencing as a community, North Haven residents are encouraged to contact the police dept. via phone when possible, rather than respond to headquarters,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Some low-level incidents or interviews may be handled over the phone. Any requests for reports should be made by phone or email. We are waiving any fees for reports and will send them electronically. The North Haven Emergency 911 Dispatch Center has implemented a screening process to ask callers requesting the assistance of police or fire resources additional questions in order to prepare and advise responding personnel.

“The intention is not to diminish the level of police services, but to reduce the risk of unnecessary exposure to both residents and our officers. Additionally, fingerprinting services have been suspended. We encourage you all to practice common sense personal hygiene, social distancing, and staying educated from legitimate sources while navigating through these times of uncertainty.”
