Counselor Stole Patient’s Identity To Buy Cable: North Haven PD

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New Haven woman was arrested after police say she stole patient/client information from a substance-use disorder treatment center in North Haven to obtain services such as cable/internet. Kimberly Telford, 39, is a counselor at the outpatient substance-use disorder treatment center and used access to the patient/client information to open a fraudulent account to obtain the cable services under the name of a patient at the center, according to police.

Police said after she was arrested, Telford confessed to “doing this to more than one person at the center.”

Telford has been charged with identity theft, criminal impersonation and larceny. Police said additional warrants for Telford are being prepared. She was released after posting a $35,000 bond.
