Daytime Gardeners of North Haven

Spring is just around the corner!

The pussy willows are popping open and spring is just around the corner. Karen Wobser, member of the Daytime Gardeners of North Haven, arranges a vase of fresh pussy willows. Other early spring shrubs to use in arrangements include forsythia and witch hazel. Tulips and daffodils can’t be far behind.

The Daytime Gardeners will meet Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the North Haven Recreation Center. Dottie Fox, RN, and Garden Therapy/World Gardening Chairman of the Federated Garden Club of CT, Inc., will present a lecture and slide show about the beneficial effects of gardening.

In the 1940s and 1950s, rehabilitative care of hospitalized war veterans significantly expanded acceptance of the practice, which was first introduced in the 19th century.
