Daytime Gardeners of North Haven Sponsor Succulent Pictures Workshop

The Daytime Gardeners of North Haven held a workshop for members and guests on February 27, 2018 to learn how to make living pictures using succulents. Succulents are plants that require very little water and can be used indoors or outdoors for enhancing the environment. The participants learned how to care for their plants and then created their own design in the frame that was custom-made by club member, Walt Brockett. A variety of types of succulents were available so participants could choose plants to suit their design. It was stressed that over watering is the main cause for failure to thrive. Succulents also need a lot of light, so a location by a sunny window is preferred. When there is insufficient light, the plants will begin to stretch taller, losing their compact shape, as they seek more sun. Participants all enjoyed the opportunity to create their own living picture to take home, while visiting with friends and meeting new friends.
