I am pleased that the Yaccarino team has finally agreed to a debate in North Haven for the 87th District state representative race. I look forward to openly discussing with Mr. Yaccarino our differences, and I felt strongly that the debate should be held in North Haven, to give residents a chance to hear from both of us in our own town.
To correct Mr. Tropeano’s account, published previously in The Patch, I never asked for five debates. I was also never told about the moderators suggested by the Yaccarino team -- all would have been acceptable to me. I do not and never did care about what form the debate took. I only care that there is one. All of my correspondence regarding a debate makes that clear. I look forward to supplying Mr. Tropeano with the definitions of a “debate” and a “forum,” since he fails to comprehend the difference between the two formats.
I do believe an additional debate would add to residents’ knowledge about the similarities and differences between me and Mr. Yaccarino, but I am confident that one will be enough.

I hope the voters of North Haven will attend the October 25 debate, sponsored by the nonpartisan League of Women Voters. It will take place at the North Haven Middle School auditorium at 6:30 p.m.
