Driver Flees on Foot During Traffic Stop, Officer Finds Heroin, Crack Cocaine in Car: North Haven PD

Police apprehended the driver following a brief foot chase and also arrested the passenger after finding 61 bags of heroin in the car.

NORTH HAVEN, CT – Two New Haven residents face drug charges after police found more than 60 bags of heroin, along with crack cocaine, in the vehicle during a traffic stop in which the driver attempted to flee on foot, according to police.

A North Haven patrol officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Universal Drive at about 4:15 p.m. on March 8.

While an officer was speaking to the front seat passenger, the driver exited the vehicle and began to run north through the parking lot of the Dollar Tree, according to police.

The driver, Jimmie Heath, was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

The passenger was identified as 34-year-old Toccara Little from New Haven.

Police said a search of the vehicle yielded 61 bags of heroin packaged for street level distribution and five vials of Crack Cocaine. Both were taken into custody.

Heath, 45, of New Haven, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and interfering with police. He was released after posting a $5,000 bond.

Heath is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on March 17.

Little was charged with possession of narcotics and possession with intent to sell. She was held on a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday morning.

Little was also processed on an outstanding arrest warrant for violation of probation.
