Father Tackles Man Who Stole Daughter’s Bike: North Haven Police

The burglary suspect was arrested after police said he was tackled and pinned down by the father after stealing a pink Huffy bicycle.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A father tackled and pinned down a man who had just stolen his daughter’s bicycle Thursday in North Haven, according to police.

Police responded to Kimberly Circle and took 38-year-old Stephen Morin, of Waterbury, into custody after the incident.

Through witness statements and video surveillance, police said it was determined that Morin entered the garage and took a white and pink Huffy bicycle.

Morin was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny.

“We want to remind everyone that confronting criminals comes with risk, and it is best practice to avoid confrontation if possible,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “We also remind would-be criminals that if you want to steal a kid’s bike days away from Father’s Day, you also are taking a risk (dad strength). We are thankful nobody was hurt, and the bicycle is back with its rightful owner.”
