Fire Evacuates Aces Mill Road School In North Haven: FD

The school was temporarily evacuated due to a fire in a break room at the school, according to officials.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A fire temporarily evacuated Aces Mill Road School in North Haven late Monday morning, according to fire officials.

Firefighters responded around 11:50 a.m. to an automatic fire alarm at the school at 295 Mill Road. While en route, officials said an additional 911 call reported smoke and water coming from within a room of the school.

“Units arrived on scene to find the school evacuated and a fire within the break room of the school that had been controlled with the activation of one fire suppression sprinkler,” officials wrote in a news release. “Units worked quickly to account for approximately 200 students and staff within the school. The room was checked for extension of fire and the sprinkler system was turned off to prevent further water damage.

“There were no injuries reported and all students were allowed to assemble within the auditorium of the school which was not impacted by the fire. ACES school officials are executing aspects of their emergency planning to determine a course of action for the remainder of the day. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Office of the North Haven Fire Marshal.”
