Firefighters Respond To 23 Incidents In 24 Hours In North Haven

North Haven firefighters responded to three structure fires, a tandem bus fire & rescued a cat from inside a wall during a hectic 24 hours.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven firefighters responded to three structure fires, a tandem bus fire and rescued a cat from inside a wall during a hectic 24-hour period.

Overall, the fire department responded to 23 incidents within 24 hours, according to officials.

On Wednesday night, just before midnight, a CT Transit tandem bus was involved in a minor motor vehicle accident and caught on fire after rupturing a fuel line, according to officials.

“Fortunately, there were no injuries associated with this incident and CT DEEP responded to the scene due to the volume of fuel involved,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook on Thursday night. “This morning, firefighters removed a cat from within the wall of an apartment complex.

“The first structure fire occurred today at 12:34 on State St which was found to be an electrical fire in the walls of an apartment above multiple commercial stores. The second fire occurred at 3:20 p.m. in a restaurant on Washington Ave within the kitchen. The third fire occurred at 4:08 p.m. within a residence on Hartford Tpk in which there was a fire within the bedroom of a single-family home.”

Officials said all of the incidents are being investigated by the fire marshal’s office and will require follow up for various code enforcement reasons.
