First Selectman Updates on Thursday Snowstorm in North Haven

First Selectman Michael Freda says crews have been out in full force since early this morning.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — In an Thursday afternoon update, North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda says crews from the Public Works Department have been out in full force since early this morning and will be working to ensure residents have a safe commute in the morning.

Freda issued the following update on Thursday’s storm:

The forecast here in North Haven is expected to be anywhere from 12 to 18 inches of snow. We have had our Department of Public Works crews out in full force since early this morning prior to the snowfall de-icing and now with all 13 plows working to clear the roadways.

They will be breaking for a rest and dinner period at 5:00 p.m. and will then be back out to continue clearing the roadways throughout the entire evening, continuing through mid-night and into the early morning hours.

It is our goal to reduce the storm impact for the evening commute and to also ensure that our residents will have a safe commute for the morning. There are currently 1,480 power outages throughout the region, and fortunately, North Haven is not experiencing any outages at this time. Sanitation and recycling are on schedule for tomorrow morning and the remainder of the week.
