Fraudulent Checks In Church Theft Cashed In North Haven: Police
Checks associated with the theft of more than $50,000 from a church in Florida were cashed in North Haven, according to police.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New Haven resident is accused of cashing fraudulent checks associated with a church in Florida in North Haven, according to police.
North Haven detectives were notified in November 2019 by police in Chipley, Florida regarding the theft of more than $50,000 from St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Chipley, according to police.
An investigation found that fraudulent checks associated with the church were cashed in various places in and out of Florida, and two were cashed at an ATM in North Haven, according to police.

After executing several search warrants, police said North Haven detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Lynise Jackson of New Haven, as well as one other suspect.
Jackson was taken into custody on Dec. 17 and charged with larceny and forgery, according to police.
