FREE LED Light Bulbs for North Haven Residents Sunday Oct. 2

North Haven and United Illuminating partner to Host Free Light Bulb Exchange as Part of the Energize CT Initiative

WHAT: Residents of North Haven are invited to attend the Great Light Bulb Exchange at the Home Depot on Universal Drive on Sunday, Oct. 2, and learn how to make their homes more energy efficient. Residents will have the ability to trade in their old incandescent light bulbs for two free 60 watt equivalents ENERGY STAR® certified light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs. This program is endorsed by First Selectman Michael Freda who strongly encourages residents to participate in the town-wide initiative endorsing energy efficiency.

One ENERGY STAR certified LED light bulb can last up to 25 times longer and uses up to 90 percent less electricity than an old-fashioned incandescent. Switching from traditional incandescent light bulbs to LEDs is a simple way to reduce energy use in your home.

Postcards have been mailed to North Haven residents outlining this event. To qualify for the light bulb exchange, participants must present either the mailed postcard or a driver’s license to validate their residence. There will be a trade-in limit of two light bulbs per household.

Additionally, all attendees will have the opportunity to take advantage of insulation specials and rebates offered through the Home Energy SolutionsSM program. A Home Energy Solutions assessment is a “physical checkup” of your home that provides approximately $1,000 in services, and residents who participate in the program save on average $200 on their annual energy bills. Those who sign up for an assessment during the promotional period from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31, 2016 will be eligible for a discount of up to 50 percent off qualifying insulation upgrades, as well as an additional exclusive $124 insulation coupon. During the event, members of the Energize Connecticut team will be available to provide further assistance and answer any questions.
