Garage Fire Engulfs Two Vehicles in Flames at North Haven Home: Officials

Firefighters extinguished the blaze over the weekend. No injuries were reported.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven firefighters extinguished an early morning residential garage fire over the weekend.

At 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, firefighters responded to 158 Pool Road on a report that the home's attached garage was on fire. Engine 1, 7, 5 and 8, along with Truck 1, Rescue 1 and Car 31 responded to the scene, according to officials.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a working fire in the garage, where two motor vehicles were completely engulfed in flames.

The fire had also extended into the 1 1/2-story wood frame ranch, up to the attic. All of the home’s occupants had safely evacuated prior to firefighters' arrival, according to officials.

Crews began an aggressive interior attack and were able to put out the fire after approximately 40 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

"Crews did a great job spreading out their efforts to all areas of the home to get this fire under control quickly and efficiently," Chief Paul Januszewski said in a press release. “We're thankful that the residents were able to make it out of the house safely on their own and that no one was injured."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the North Haven Fire Department.
