House Fire Displaces 5 In North Haven: Officials

The Hamden and Wallingford fire departments assisted at the scene and provided town coverage while crews battled the fire.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Five people were displaced from their home after a fire Tuesday on Hartford Turnpike in North Haven, according to officials.

North Haven firefighters responded around 4:25 p.m. to multiple 911 calls reporting a house fire. The first unit arrived at the scene within 6 minutes of dispatch, according to officials.

Firefighters found heavy flames on arrival, according to a post on the North Haven Fire Department’s Facebook page.

“Mutual aid consisting of an Engine and Ladder responded from Hamden FD,” officials wrote in the post. “Wallingford FD provided town coverage for fire incidents in addition to career staff called back to maintain continuity of service.”

There were no reported injuries, according to officials.

The American Red Cross also responded to the scene and is assisting three families – four adults and one child – who were displaced by the fire.

The Red Cross provided assistance to meet the families' immediate needs. Responders included: Tim Castleman, Susan Shaw and Paul Bankowski, according to a news release.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the North Haven Fire Marshal’s office.

Officials said the Wallingford Fire Department and call back personnel from the North Haven Fire Department also responded to a rollover crash on Route 15 with multiple patients.
